One hundred years ago, the seagulls, three guys from the Coast Guard's Kill Devil Hills, N.C., Lifesaving Station and a couple of locals witnessed Wilbur and Orville Wright fly a powered machine through the air for the first time.
The first successful sustainedoutdoor house Inflatable Castle powered flights in a heavier-than-air machine were made here by Wilbur and Orville Wright on December 17, 1903. A 60-foot granite monument dedicated in 1932, is perched atop 90-foot tall Kill Devil Hill commemorating the achievement of these two visionaries from Dayton, Ohio.
Wilbur and Orville Wright were two brothers from the heartland of America with a vision as sweeping as the sky and a practicality[务实] as down-to-earth[实际的] as the Wright Cycle Co., the bicycle business they founded in Dayton, Ohio, in 1892. But while there were countless bicycle shops in turn-of-the-century[世纪之交] America, in only one were wings[翼] being built as wellsales Inflatable Slide as wheels. When the Wright brothers finally realized their vision of powered human flight in 1903, they made the world a forever smaller place...
